SPC Thomas J. Barbieri II

APR 12, 1982 – AUG 23, 2006 |  Baghdad, Iraq

Hometown: Gaithersburg, MD

T.J. was the 2nd oldest of four boys and shared an unusual closeness with his brothers.  His brothers say T.J. was the most naturally gifted of all of them, a talented artist and writer, and had a big heart.  He was tough as nails but had an incredible knack for bringing joy and laughter to those around him. To honor T.J.’s legacy, the Barbieri family has chosen Achilles International.

Achilles International - New York, NY

Their mission is to enable people with all types of disabilities to participate in mainstream athletics in order to promote personal achievement, enhance self-esteem, and lower barriers to living a fulfilling life.

Dog Tag Legacy Fund is proud to support Achilles International in honor of SPC Thomas J. Barbieri II by providing grant funds that will allow OEF and OIF combat-wounded veterans to participate in Achilles Freedom Team marathons in T.J.’s name.
