SGT Mark R. Vecchione
United States Army

B Company, 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Division

JAN 11, 1981 – JUL 18, 2006 |   Ramadi, Iraq

Hometown: Eastham, MA

Not only did Mark feel compelled to serve his country, but he viewed the military as an avenue for personal growth before attending college. He was kind, caring and extremely devoted to his family and his country. But in some ways, Mark was still a typical, All-American teen who liked to cut school to go fishing. He often joked that the club he belonged to in high school was the “Reserved Seat in the Principal’s Office Club.”  To honor Mark’s legacy, his family has chosen Cape Cod Cares for the Troops.

Mark’s mother is deeply involved with this nonprofit that sends care packages to deployed troops, visits wounded servicemen and women and cares for military families in the area, and, at the request of the troops, began sending items to schools, orphanages, and medical facilities in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Dog Tag Legacy Fund is proud to support Cape Cod Cares for the Troops with grant funds to further promote Mark’s legacy.
