Emily Miller is the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Rumi Spice, a for-profit social enterprise that imports premium saffron directly from Afghan farmers and cooperatives.

Previously, Emily served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. She led an engineer platoon in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom leading reconstruction efforts in Basra, Iraq. Following this, she was selected to serve as a Cultural Support Team (CST) member attached to 75th Ranger Regiment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom on two deployments to Afghanistan. Her CST team was the subject of Gayle Tzemach Lemmon’s New York Times bestseller, Ashley’s War.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Philosophy from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
