Our mission is to support and enhance Gold Star Family initiatives.

We do this in three ways.

  1. By working directly with Gold Star Families - the families of military heroes who died in service to our nation - to select local impact projects of remembrance to build the legacies of their loved ones;
  2. By providing charitable grants to support those remembrance projects; and
  3. By training, supporting, and mentoring new and existing Gold Star-related 501(c)(3) organizations.

In doing so, we aim to be the gold standard for charitable organizations that serve and support America’s active and veteran service members, their families and surviving families of the fallen; accelerate the success and amplify the positive impact of the organizations we support; and build our nation’s capacity to support Gold Star Families, celebrate the fallen, and empower Gold Star Families to cement legacies of our fallen heroes so that they – and their courage, sacrifice, and commitment – are not forgotten.

Core Programs:

Dedication Cans
The dedication can is our unique way of partnering with Gold Star Families (the families of military servicemen and servicewomen who died in service to our nation) to create awareness for the fallen, build their legacies as their families wish, and to amplify all the values they fought to protect. For every story shared on a dedication can, there's a positive impact. Families of the fallen whose stories are shared select a 501(c)(3) charity that best preserves the legacy of their loved one. Those charities directly benefit from Dog Tag Brewing Foundation's grant program. Beginning with 12 Gold Star Families, to date over 600 families have asked to have their loved one included on a dedication can. We are privileged to work with these families who've given so much. And we are humbled to share the stories of the fallen. Through the dedication can, you join us in celebrating the lives of the fallen. Their legacies are literally in your hand.

Legacy-Building Grants
Grants are provided to legacy-building initiatives with new and existing qualified 501(c)(3) organizations that are identified by the Gold Star Families that we serve. Dog Tag Brewing Foundation adheres to a rigorous application and review process. Unsolicited grants are not awarded.

Training and Mentoring
Dog Tag Brewing Foundation provides broad-spectrum training and mentoring opportunities to new and existing 501(c)(3) organizations that benefit from Dog Tag Brewing Foundation grants. Specific areas of impact include;

  • establishing a new 501(c)(3) organization
  • fundraising program
  • communications
  • board roles and responsibilities
  • operational health
  • governance and compliance

If you are a Gold Star Family and would like to learn more about the steps involved in the grant process, please select the Dedication Can Process link on our Cans & Grants page.

The fallen are not nameless and faceless statistics. These are great Americans with stories of courage and inspiration and loved ones who miss them dearly. Help remember them and celebrate their lives. Let’s reinvent the toast!
