SSG Timothy R. McGill
United States Army

A Company, 2nd Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group

JUL 18, 1983 – SEP 21, 2013 | Paktia Province, Afghanistan

Hometown: Ramsey, NJ

Timothy was nicknamed "Gentle Giant" due to his unusual height of 6'7" and even bigger heart. First a US Marine, then a Special Forces 18 Bravo, Timothy also volunteered as a firefighter in his hometown when on leave home from the military. RT Foundation's motto is a quote straight from Timothy's mouth: "I Don't Plan on Running." This came from his days training DEA agents and his optimism and courage that he would never run away from the enemy.

RT Foundation - Ramsey, NJ

The RT Foundation was created in order to embrace the spirit of being resilient and to recover from one’s own loss by lending one’s heart to others who also are in need. Resilience through Tragedy. The RT Foundation, established in March 2015, seeks to make its own unique stance on philanthropy. They seek to mend together all of those who have suffered loss and have needed a support system by serving as a forum, an educational space, and most of all the opportunity to promote causes that need attention. Started by the Gold Star sister of SSG Timothy McGill, their focus is on supporting currently deployed troops, veterans, and Gold Star family members.

Dog Tag Legacy Fund is proud to support the RT Foundation with grant funds and nonprofit assistance.
