Maj Michael D. Martino
United States Marine Corps

Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing

JAN 31, 1973 – NOV 2, 2005 |   Ramadi, Iraq

Hometown: Irvine, CA

As a young child, Michael already knew he wanted to be a pilot.  As a teenager in Irvine, CA, Michael would ride his bike to the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station to attend the military air shows. He would be the first to arrive and the last to leave, spending hours talking to the pilots and exploring the planes.  As a grown man, Mike was a quiet, reserved guy who could light up a room with his smile. Michael's family dedicated the following website as a tribute to his memory and to honor Mike’s legacy, the Martinos have chosen to establish a scholarship through The Wingman Foundation.

Wingman Foundation - New York, NY

With the endorsement of the Martino family, The Wingman Foundation is developing the Michael "Martini" Martino Memorial Educational Grant. Since Mike was a devoted son, brother, and uncle, this merit-based scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving niece or nephew of a fallen service member who has served in Navy or Marine Corps Aviation. This underserved population has been overlooked by traditional support networks, but has felt the loss of our bravest.

Dog Tag Legacy Fund is proud to support The Wingman Foundation in honor of Maj. Michael D. Martino with grant funds and assistance to launch this scholarship.
